Saint Agatha Academy
A Vibrant Learning Community Anchored in Christ, Since 1919
Principal Ron Allen
At Mass this weekend we announced our new principal, Rev. Mr. Ronald Allen. After forming a search committee of eight persons from varied backgrounds and representing the fullest scope of the school’s constituency, and acquiring an interim option should we fail to receive a satisfactory candidate pool, we received and reviewed nine applications. We established, in concert with diocesan guidelines, a criteria of hire which reflected the spiritual, financial, interpersonal, administrative and financial needs of our school. Based upon these criteria we narrowed our search to three candidates for primary interviews with the committee, whereupon successful completion would result in a secondary and final interview process with the teachers and parents of the school.
The search committee gave only one recommendation for the final interview, and that recommendation to me was unanimous, in Rev. Mr. Allen. Upon completing positive interviews with the school faculty, parents, and Mrs. Gilbert, and listening to the valuable input of those individuals who contacted me with their impressions, we began successful negotiations with the diocese to conclude the hiring process.
Mr. Allen was born and raised in eastern Kentucky. He has a masters degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University. He worked for, and retired from IBM where he oversaw multiple projects across the globe with up to 90 dependents. After retiring from IBM, he has been employed at Lockeed where he has worked for 9 years. Deacon Ron is a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is also a part time farmer, and an active volunteer with the St. Joseph Church Knights of Columbus.
As we come to know Principal Allen, my prayer is that he will enjoy the same respect and affection we demonstrated toward Mr. Pica.
May God continue to bless our school, and vouchsafe her work. Thanks to each of you for your prayers and concern during this difficult yet joyful decision process. It is the witness and love of our St. Agatha parents which reminds repeatedly why our school is so successful. Please keep her and us in your prayers.
